The registration of a vehicle is treated as valid only if the vehicle has a valid certificate of Fitness.
In the case of Private Vehicles, the fitness certificate is valid for 15 years and thereafter renewed every 5 years. The fitness is checked and certified by the RTO Authority.
Whereas in the case of Transport Vehicles the fitness certificate is issued for a new vehicle for the first 2 years and subsequently renewed every 2 years. After the vehicle’s age of 8 years, the fitness certificate is renewed every year.
